With a nice hot summer around us in Europe and the northern hemisphere color is something around us and we feel like embracing it and wearing it just to get away from the black and dull colors of winter.

With Summer finally here and after the success of our first De’ Mel Trunk Show in Milan, we decided have a “Summer” Trunk Show on June 16^th so that our fans could attend and have a look at our Summer collection and meet and network with new people and friends.

This time, our friend Laura Squeri was very kind in sharing her fabulous 4 storey Loft located in a very trendy Milanese area. Also new: we paired with a Vintage store brand called “Il piccolo Atelier di Becky”  and our attendees were able to find not only De’Mel creations but also very nice Vintage Fashion and luxury items as well as etnic Indonesian necklaces and bracelets.

Thanks to the amazing venue and large space we divided it into two spaces with De’Mel on first floor and “Il piccolo atelier di Becky” on the second floor.

Our guests were served with tasty appetizers such as delicious artiganal “grissini”, home made banana-chocolate and vanilla Cupcakes, and fresh seasonal cherries and strawberries. We toasted mainly to champagne and we can say it was a very successful event to the point that we extended it to two more days so that people could come and enjoy the location and shop!

We thank Laura, Giuliana, Teodora and Rebeka very much for the lovely collaboration and look forward to repeating this event after the summer holidays with our Fall-Winter collection.

I don’t know one person who does not like to get a good deal or discount. It is always satisfying knowing that you got something either at good value for money or at a discount when the prices are extremely high. Sales vary from Country to Country, from City to City but one thing is for sure: it is the best feeling once you get what you want at great price…

Sale periods are known everywhere mostly summer and winter and I love those but living in Milan there are “hidden” sales that are not easy to get into but after living here for so many years getting to go to “Family and Friends” or Seasonal Sample sales for the most important fashion and luxury brands is AMAZING.

These sales happen normally around May-June and October-November and every time you go nuts because there is such a great discount that you may never shop in the stores anymore. Of course not everything you find is recent collection or in perfect conditions but if you have a good eye you can definitely find great and timeless pieces.

Financial crisis may come and go but New York is still New York and the sophistication and energy you find is that city is not comparable to any other city in the World.

De’ Mel has been very lucky in finding the right US representative and has already been present in a few jewelry events in the past 3 months. The most recent event was a Trunk show organized together with other emerging brands, one from Peru and one from India.

On May 8^th De’Mel was displayed at the posh “The Apthorp” building in Upper West Side Manhattan and the setting and outcome was amazing!

Last Thursday we hosted the first De’ Mel Trunk show in Milan and it was a great occasion to show the variety of De’ Mel creations in terms of types of accessories, shapes and colors.

Some of you may ask: what is a trunk show?

Well, a trunk show is a pop-up store for one evening or afternoon at your friends home and is the perfect way to enjoy quality time with friends, make new friends and see De’ Mel creations live!

We started the warm and sunny afternoon with some champagne, canapés and banana-chocolate home-made cupcakes.

Friends who attended the evening came mainly from Italy but also Australia, Argentina, Nigeria and Spain. An international crowd with one thing in common: they all left that evening with one (or more!) pair of De’ Mel creations and by the look of their positive and kind comments I can tell they are all pretty happy with their new accessories!

This was a great introduction of the Trunk show concept in Milan and we will for sure organize other similar events soon so that all our fans get the chance to attend.

With spring at our door, even with some delay, a shape of Venetian lace inspired by nature is what we needed. The leaf inspired shape of the new De’ Mel earrings comes in various colors and each pair is combined with various semi-precious stones matching each specific color.

The size is perfect, about 7 cm long and 3 cm wide easy to wear and matching long and short do’s.

Milan is known by most people as one of the fashion capitals of the World and an industrial city that compared to other Italian cities like Rome, Florence or Venice has less to offer in terms of history and art. I can confirm this and say that thanks to this, Milan is one of the most (if not THE most) livable cities in Italy for its relatively good organization, geographical location (closer to other European cities and well connected) and international approach to events and fairs.

Apart from the countless fashion weeks throughout the year, there is the “Salone del Mobile” (usually around second week of April) one of the most important furniture fairs worldwide and other famous fairs related to fashion such as MIPEL and MICAM that attract thousands of visitors. Since 2009 Milan also takes part in the “Vogue Fashion Night out” event normally held in September.

Many dates, throughout the year, that make this city always alive and visited by interesting and international people.

So one would say: so many events, so little time!

But it doesn’t stop there…Milan never stops to surprise me and a wonderful and unexpected surprise was to learn about the “Chanel Little Black Jacket” exhibition that is taking place this week at Rotonda di Via Besana in Milan city Center. I was extremely pleased with what I saw. Not only the stunning photographs chosen by Genius Karl L. but also by the setting and lighting. Really eye catching and you could feel the “ Chanel code” in your skin. It felt like going inside a church and feeling God speaking to you only that here you felt like you were part of the Chanel World.

And the best surprise ever? The thank you for coming gift reserved for every person going to the exhibition: a magnificent poster to choose from 4 different pictures available at the expo itself handed to you in a vinyl bag for protection. LOVE!

This exhibition has already been shown in Tokyo, New York Taipei, Hong Kong, London, Moscow, Sydney, Paris, Berlin and Seoul. However it will be still shown in Dubai next month so for those of you who have not seen it yet and are Chanel fans and of course happen to be in Dubai next month, DON’T miss it!

Oh did I forget to say: FREE entrance!

Friendship is I believe the most important thing in life. Some last,some don’t, but the moment we find that connection with someone we feel happy and understood and there is this little excitement running inside us when we spend quality time with a friend and chat about everything and anything and we feel like time has stopped and we could go on for hours and hours. This is friendship to me, and if you have that, no matter where you live geographically then you are happy. I don’t see all my good friends as much as I would like to as we are all spread out worldwide but when we manage to meet, it feels like time has not gone by. How special is that?

Being there for a special occasion such as a wedding, a baptism or an important birthday is also a way to show our friends that we care. 

Many good friends are wearing De’ Mel creations everyday, for a party or for special occasions but they are also giving it as unique presents to their friends. In the following pictures I wanted to share some of the special occasions that were captured in various joyful events with friends and friends of friends. Hanging out at a house party and a 40’s birthday party in Vietnam! All happy events where De’ Mel creations only made it more unique and sexy!

Short breaks are the best way to get away from routine and get new energy and inspiration. Easter week-end was the perfect excuse to get away from rainy Milan and this time go south…

The southern part of Italy has so many regions and each is very different from the other. Destination chosen: Amalfi Coast part of the Campania region characterized by its beautiful coastline and lemon trees as well as unique hand-painted porcelain and much more!

Although this destination is mostly visited during the summer months it has visitors all year long mainly due to its mild climate compared to the rest of Europe. If you ever plan on visiting the south of Italy, this is definitely not to be missed! Towns to be seen are: Positano, Ravello, Minori, Maiori, Amalfi, Vietri sul Mare and the main city Salerno.

I love how De’ Mel creations are for women of any age, height and ethnicity and it can be worn for any occasion. I have already documented a few occasions of use such as at the beach, a traditional Asian ceremony and a wedding.
